This modernist junk replaced a really elegant building from the early 20th century. This is one building I'm not going to miss.

Your friendly neighbourhood coffee shop, this is where you can take respite after travelling on the ever congested Federal Highway and Jalan Cheras. Drop by for a tall glass of iced chinese tea. Or if that stomach is growling, you have a variety of gastronomically interesting local delicacies to select from. Highly recommended is Wong Western Cuisine's selection of chops, especially the mouthwatering black pepper lamb and chicken chop. Connaughtians love the all-day-long breakfast set where you can customize what goes on your plate - sausages, crispy bacon and the thickest pieces of ham are top on the list. Prices of chops start from RM 6.00 while breakfast sets start from RM 3.50. Breakfast, brunch, lunch or teatime, Wong Western Cuisine's menu has something for you. Other local hawker-style food available here is yong tau foo, frog leg porridge, chee cheong fun, wan ton noodles (the noodles are cooked with different kinds of soup throughout the week - the best is the saiyong vege soup), claypot chicken rice and more! This is Vintage! The food is Vintage! If you treansure the old style chinese cooking, you must come here! Pei Pa duck, Eight Treasure duck, Paper Wrapped Chicken, Chicken boxing, Pork hand stuffing, Roasted prawn, Frozen chicken with scallops cold plate and many more... The taste is superb because they are still using Charcoal to cook foods.. and surprisely they still use Chinese Abacus to settle the bill.. Worth a try!

2007/05/29 KUALA LUMPUR: A condominium unit at Desa Pandan here was almost destroyed while three people suffered serious injuries in an explosion caused by a gas leak yesterday. A couple and a male relative, all in their 30s, suffered second-degree burns in the incident at a sixth-floor unit of Block H2 of Menara Polo. The 1.30pm blast destroyed almost the whole unit and shattered the windows of nearby units. Pudu fire station head Mohd Ramali Arbai said the explosion was due to a gas leak in the kitchen while the wife of one of the victims was cooking. He said the unit also caught fire but firemen from the Hang Tuah and Pudu stations managed to bring it under control within 30 minutes. Neighbours sent the victims to Kuala Lumpur Hospital where they were admitted to the burns unit. They were reported to be in serious condition, especially the woman, whose lungs were damaged.
